CrowdMag is a tool that measures the native magnetic field using your smartphone! The app shows the info as a graph or a map in units of nanotesla (nT; one nanotesla equals 10^−9 Tesla). The native magnetic area components measured by CrowdMag are the Z (downward component), H (horizontal intensity), and F (total intensity). Use CrowdMag for measuring magnetic knowledge throughout your outside adventures or to conduct your individual homegrown science! To carry out your own experiments or analyze your observations, export your knowledge as a CSV file. Optionally, your magnetic data could also be shared with NOAA to assist scientists perceive extra about Earth’s magnetic field!

What is new!

CrowdMag is going active! When you go out for a stroll, run, or different outdoor activities, use CrowdMag to measure the magnetic information alongside your path and save the data as a “magtivity”. Save, list, export or delete magtivities to create a complete magnetic area map of your space. We notably encourage you to share your magtivities with our analysis group at NOAA and to have multiple magtivities alongside the same path so that we are able to stack the information to minimize back the noise.

Getting a model new phone? Don’t worry! You can now export a backup of your CrowdMag and reserve it on your pc. If you must reset your telephone, or switch to a new telephone, now you can import your backup and continue using CrowdMag with out losing your status for information contributed, areas covered, or magtivities accomplished.

CrowdMag’s magnetic calculator supplies magnetic variation (declination), the magnetic field’s dip angle, complete magnetic subject and other magnetic area components (as properly as their associated uncertainties) based on the latest World Magnetic Model (WMM2020).

CrowdMag Features:

- Create your own magnetic exercise (magtivity)

- Customize recording frequency and location accuracy

- Interactive Google Map offers a map of your magnetic data

- Graph your knowledge as a time series line chart

- Check the standard of the information by evaluating it with the WMM

- Export your knowledge as a CSV file

- Clear saved information in your phone

- Optionally share your knowledge with NOAA

- See generalized crowdsourced magnetic information from other users

- Live magnetic compass

- Current photo voltaic magnetic disturbance

- Expected magnetic subject calculator

- Uses the latest magnetic field model (WMM2020)

- Export data by way of email, Google Drive and different options

- Export CrowdMag backup to save your contributions' status and data

- Import CrowdMag backup (works across different phone platforms)
