Legal practice in India is ruled by the Advocates Act 1961; an act handed by the Indian Parliament which provides for laws relating to legal practitioners in India and to offer for the structure of the Bar Council of India (BCI) and state bar councils. Under the powers granted within the Act, the BCI has made rules generally recognized as BCI rules which lay down rules for follow, authorized schooling and skilled ethics. Advocates Act 1961 changed the sooner Indian Bar Councils Act, 1926.
