Hoigi - Tabletop Strategy

Hoigi is a two-player Tabletop Game performed on a nine-by-nine board just like Shogi. Unlike the other related games, Shogi and Chess, Hoigi incorporates an exciting third dimension to the gameplay allowing the gamers to make extra maneuvers and develop new strategies which require a completely new mind-set.

Hoigi introduces a new mechanic referred to as tiering, stacking up to 3 items, which supplies higher mobility choices for the items. Tiering produces entities called towers, with a most of 3 ranges, a tier 1 tower is only a piece on its own, a tier 2 is one piece stacked upon the opposite and a tier 3 tower are 3 items stacked upon each other. Alongside with this mechanic it has a couple of others which might be predominant in Tabletop Games: movement, capture and dropping (placing new pieces).

As in Chess and Shogi, the goal is to trap the King so it can not escape, however this is preceded by strategic maneuvering of pieces which are meant to control area and strengthen the ultimate assault.
